Claudio Cabrera

Claudio Cabrera

Painter | Fashion Designer

Claudio Cabrera (Cuba, 1983) is a self-taught artist who, from a young age, was immersed in the artistic currents at the heart of the cultural life of his city, living a bohemian lifestyle. After observing and contemplating which path to choose, he pursued costume design. From the age of 18 until now, he has produced over 200 sketches for each project, and his drawings have found their place on the walls of distant and diverse collectors, including Kenneth Cole, Paulina Rubio, and friends and acquaintances from all over Havana who have visited the city during these 20 prolific years. A highlight of his career is the creation of the costumes for “La segunda piel,” a contemporary dance work from Cuba.

His spiritual condition as an “urban monk” has led him to be anti-commercial. Still, after so many years, and with the support of XAVART, created by his childhood friend, gallerist, and artist Fidel Hechavarria, he has decided to open up to the world, humbly introducing what he calls “Kukitas” to the market.
